Now look what you did

You encouraged me! (and thank you to all of you, for the encouragement and support you constantly give me - I truly appreciate it) And now I've done it. I've gone and listed them.

The results of my little addiction can be found here.

(Edit: Whoohoo! One of my pieces made it into this Etsy treasury! )

Sunday Flea Market

Today is a perfect flea market day - the sun is shining, the birds are singing, the temps have gone up to a wonderful balmy 20°C - what could be better? Well, if my husband didn't have to work today - that would have been better. But so, off I went on my own.

Look - it's spring!

garden decorations - not vintage

Of course, not everything you see at the flea market is antique, vintage or even old. Sometimes, what you see is simply new. Like those garden decorations. They are made to look old.
Or the jewelry and shawls below - not pretending to be old, just lovely. This guy always has a beautifully colour coordinated table. Yummy!

Wow, there was alot to see today. First; I thought the pickings were pretty slim. I had covered 3/4 of the flea market and only found one piece to take home. But that last quarter - it was full of stuff. Just look!

brass castings
There was a whole box of these brass and red brass castings. Some awesome Art Deco jewelry designs in there! But - I have a limited budget - so, it was a case of pawing through the whole to find what pieces I could use.

See that last picture - I don't know what they are called in English. Some sort of garden stakes, to keep the perennials from overflowing on the walkway. Not that I need them for my flowers. I have something different in mind - but more about that some other time.

Hope you enjoyed the flea market with me today. I spent 3 hours there and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Have a wonderful Sunday, where ever you are!

more resin work in progress

Okay, now I am sure this is an addiction. It has to be. I'm making more of them. These will not be the last.

Does anyone know if there is a Resins Anonymous?

more of them

I have made a couple more. You know. Those pieces of metal, covered with some paper, which has been covered with inks and markers and paint; and again, covered with resin. I think I am addicted.
So, if anyone has seen enough of my new addiction - time to go visit someone else. For those who still want to see, look below:

honey bee focal, in the sunlight

This is on brass, with a sweet little honey bee. The reverse is brass - sorry, forgot to take a picture. It has a texture created by hammering and it reminds me of a honeycomb, which is why I decided not to cover it.

This one is on sterling silver. I need to stretch outside of my box in regards to colour. I don't use a lot of blue. But I really like the mood of this one.

I really like how the colours change in the sunlight.

more work in progress

I have been making more of these pieces with resin, paper and copper. I just love the dreamy look of the colours under the resin.

I have more of these on the work table in the makings. Love to combine my paper art with my jewelry!!

Sunday flea market and the labour of love

Today, we visited a few smaller flea markets, that aren't quite as consistantly interesting as the "big" flea market, that takes place once a month.

My husband found another tool for me; a small vise.

I also found this mineral. I am hoping it is mica - the seller didn't know what it was.

hopefully mica

This is the back of a pocket watch. Something I can turn into found object jewelry.

Our big treasure this week: an antique portable sewing machine. Such a beautiful piece of work! Still functional - just needs lots of cleaning and some oil, the woodwork needs some repairs though.

This past week, my husband, his dad and I have been doing alot of work in the garden. Hard work. Cleaning up. Cutting down. Rebuilding. A true labour of love.

Our vegetable "patch" in a raised bed. I share this with our landlady; we each use half. Siding used to be wood and was disintegrating. Now rebuilt. The roofing in back is for our tomatoes.

Roofing redone. Now this is the templum solani - the temple of nightshade plants (which is the botanic family tomatoes belong to; Solanum lycopersicum).

Finished trimming my boxwood hedge. Yes, I know is is freestyle. I trimmed it.

My hellebores are blooming.

The weather is truly April weather. I don't know how many times it has rained and snowed today. Then the sun will briefly come out and it starts over again. And it is cold!!!! Right now, it is hailing. The hail is the size of small peas and is quickly covering the ground.

I hope the sun is shining where you are - have a great Sunday!
