Sunday art show

It is that time of year again - the weather is getting milder, all the plants are putting out new leaves, flowers are blooming. People are getting back out of the house. Garden and other events start taking place on the weekends.

On the first weekend in May, there is an art show not far from here. It takes place on the grounds of a very old feudal farm - the only translation I can find is: manor - but I'm not sure that describes it correctly. The farm still belongs to the monastary in the same town and its fields are used by the university of Munich for agricultural research. The farm buildings are built around an inner courtyard. This courtyard, most of the rooms on the ground floor and an adjacent orchard are used for the art show.

All sorts of beautiful things can be seen and bought here. Clothing, hats, jewelry, ceramics, felted art, woodwork, sculpture, metalwork, decorations, paper, calligraphy, glas, enamel, music - I'm sure I've forgotten some of the art that is exhibited.
In the central area of the courtyard are tables and benches, where visitors can sit and enjoy something to eat and drink. The weather decided to treat us to some much needed rain this weekend; making conditions for the exhibitors and the visitors a little less than perfect, but still enjoyable.

Some exhibitors don't like pictures taken. So this is just a small sampling of the things I saw and wanted to share with you.

Hope you enjoyed the look around!

Oh, how beautiful! I love those kinds of art shows. When we lived in near San Francisco, we used to love to go to the art and wine festivals and still have lots of treasures in our house that we bought then. Actually, we found the artist who designed our wedding bands at one of those festivals. Happy Sunday!! Love, Silke

now THAT is an art show - each photograph filled with beauty left me wanting to see more... you must really look forward to your weekend outings - it is great to get filled with inspiration whether at the flea market or at a festival... living in the u.s., where an 'historical' building of the colonial era may be 2-300 years old (almost new compared to european/eastern standards), i can only imagine the feeling of being seated in history... walking where people have lived their lives for centuries and even millenia... it is one of the things that drew me to art history - and one of the things that will bring me across the sea... thank you for your generous spirit and sharing your life...

Das sieht nach einer ganz tollen Messe aus, Renate. Hach, da misse ich doch manchmal Süddeutschland. So nett Köln ist, von der Gegend geht doch nichts über den Süden. Danke fürs Zeigen.

LG Stefanie

I loved looking at your art event! That is the draw back of having an event outside, and we too suffer from it alot here in Texas!
I actually was in a juried Art Walk this past weekend, and it turned out to be GREAT. I was worried, as we had a chance of rain...but instead we had overcast~which is perfect! Saturday I got soooo hot by the afternoon, but Sunday turned out to be perfect.
I loved it ~ ALL.
