work in progress and update on the kittens...

The 'prayer bead' idea has been tumbling around in my head, over and over. The piece I made was not technically a bead, not a box... maybe something more of a scroll? I may find a fitting term someday. Meanwhile, I am working on another piece, so I have a work in progress to show.

A forged piece of copper, some silk rod and a resined piece of paper with the runes that continue to call me. The resined paper has been distressed - making it look like a piece of old parchment.

The kittens have made good progress getting back to health. Although I am finding it hard to believe, they are now about 3 months old. They have grown considerably, although I still think they are very small for their age - but then, their mama is a tiny cat... These pics were taken last weekend.

Frettchen (= Ferret)

Pan

Lilith

Difficult to take pictures of them - they are always moving in high speed; so most of the pics I take show a blur or a tail or don't even have a cat in them...

Last night the temps dipped down below freezing - this morning, everthing is covered in frost and we will finally see the sun again. The last few days have been heavily shrouded in fog.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Sunday.

The kittens are so beautiful. They have come a very long way with your nurturing. Maybe what you are creating are prayer scrolls. Whatever, I do like the notion of layering this different materials into a bundle of goodness.

Smitten with the rune piece, wonderful combination of materials. Look forward to seeing how they will be combined. The kitties look so sweet!

(Wish I could easily comment in your language as you do on MY blog, but alas, I DO speak several languages, one can;'t know them all!)

I love the parchment paper with the rune letters, it looks so ancient. The eyes on little Ferret are adorable. All the kittens look so happy. I'm glad they are doing so well. Stay warm my friend.

I'm new to your blog - and to mine!In fact, to this whole world of bloggery!I've been reading your comments on that gorgeous Fanciful Divine's spot, so it was inevitable that I'd find my way here! What a treat it is too!! I love Etsy, but, it feels quite distant in a lot of ways, whereas entering a person's blog is like discovering a whole new beautiful other world! I'm rapidly becoming hooked!!
Your work is utterly beautiful, and a complete inspiration. As with Fanciful D, you're a teacher of the art of letting go. It's your ability to do that, that makes your work so captivating and real.
Those kitty cats of yours look like they're well on the way now. You can't beat a good load of cats!
Enjoy your evening.

S/R - the original 'bead' reminded me of sacred Tibetan scrolls - miniature versions to be carried on a journey-pilgramage. This second one just confirms that image. Small sacred scrolls that one wears in life on the life journey. Cat photos are great. good to see they are getting so well. Love Ferret. Go well. B

Renate, I am fascinated by the new concept you are working with - the scroll design with the resined paper. It is really amazing.
Your kitties are so adorable. Just love the one of Lilithi in the box with the well-loved ball.
I figured it would be getting very COLD there - that time of year already. Will you be hitting the flea market this Sunday? We went to a huge antique mall last weekend called German Trading Post and I thought of you. :-) There were many treausures inside, including a vintage light-up snowman. When we went back to pick it up, it was already gone!
