Sunday Flea Market and Cobweb's Necklace

Well, today's flea market did not have any treasures for my jewellery/found object/supplies, but I did manage to find a couple of things I will use otherwise.

Indonesian batik inspired print fabric

Don't know what I am going to do with this yet, but it was calling my name! Then it said: show this to Christi!! LOL

I just adore old "tools" - these are going to be put to work with my art supplies.

I have finally finished a commission for a wedding necklace! The bride loved it and so I am happy. Working on a commission has pros and cons. While it is great to make something special for someone; I do find it a bit limiting to work within the narrow boundaries of someone else's vision.
But now I am free to work on my own pieces again and I finally had a breakthrough with Cobweb's Necklace. You might remember, another fairy from A Midsummer Nights Dream. It was half finished, but for some reason, I just couldn't get past that point. But this weekend, it all just came into place and below, Miranda is modelling the necklace for me.

Cobweb's Necklace, modelled by Miranda

This is a longer necklace; made of copper, antique lace, Czech glass, seedbeads, freshwater pearls and a fantastic barley corn chain.

Beautiful, Renate. Isn't it nice when you put something away and let the ideas just simmer in your mind and then it all comes together? That lace over the woven wire is quite magical. And I love the length of it. BTW Miranda is looking very stylish with this necklace on.

i know what you mean about doing custom pieces- it's great that they love what you do and want you to make something special for them. but sometimes it's hard to follow their vision, and worse for me is the concern that it won't end up being all they envisioned. so it's a little stressful!
love how the lace is reminiscent of webbiness on Cobweb's necklace- what a beauty!

That is so special that you created a piece for someone's BIG day..you must feel very proud about that.
Your new necklace is beautiful...I love the subtle colors and the copper focal with the vintage lace - what a pretty combination!

I love Cobwebs necklace. I think it is my favorite piece I've seen you do so far. I love the lace and metal together. Soft and hard. The texture. I would love to touch this piece it must feel wonderful in ones hands.

Hallo Renate!
Danke für deinen Besuch bei mir.
Gerne kannst du auch meinen deutschen blog besuchen, da habe ich z.B. auch eine ganze Reihe von interessanten Künstlerporträts.

Also, vielleicht sehen wir uns!

Dsa One tribe-one (he)art Projekt ist tatsächlich gerade in einer interessanten Phase. Wer hätte gedacht, daß Erde verschicken in so vielen Ländern verboten ist. Nun ja, ich hoffe, es geht auch ohne.
Schon toll, was Internet so möglich macht. LG

You clever girl, you! How ingenious ... to use lace (a doily) as a focal point. So nostalgic and sweet .... and I love your flea market finds. I've been away for a while, but I hope you had a great time on your Italian adventure!
